International Day to Assist the Poor

Poverty of a significant part of the world's population continues to be one of the main problems of developed societies for many yearsInternational Day to Assist the Poor Therefore, in economically developed countries it is considered an important and necessary task to provide support to the poor In 1995, the UN decided to declare December 19th the International Day to Help the Poor This idea appeared after another conference on economic development, when it became clear that the current situation in the world is not consistent with generally accepted international principles and human moral standards On this day, the world community tries to actively draw attention to the problems of those living in poverty Scientists define poverty as the lack of material means for a full and healthy existence Many large families are below the poverty line; families with a sick child; disabled people and pensioners who are unable to work; people of blue-collar professions engaged in unskilled and low-paid labor Poverty prevents a person from fully participating in society and achieving their full potential It is very sad when children from low-income families, with the same abilities, have less chance of achieving success than their peers living in wealthy families Helping those in need is one of the main rules of any religion and the main task of humanity as a whole Many countries have adopted government programs, and there are voluntary, public and religious organizations to help the poor They are joined by prominent public figures - politicians, actors, musicians, philanthropists and many wealthy people On the International Day of Relief for the Poor, charity auctions and campaigns to raise funds and items for low-income citizens are organized Poverty is one of the most pressing problems in modern Russia The number of poor people has increased after large-scale perestroika processes in the socio-economic sphere and political relations in the post-Soviet space Social programs are being developed to maintain their standard of living The Orthodox Church, charitable organizations, volunteers and all caring people provide great assistance
