December 20 marks the International Day of Human Solidarity, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly on December 22, 2005, about which a special entry was made in the resolution dated March 17, 2006 Solidarity in this case is a community of interests aimed at actively improving the life of humanity on the planet The idea of ​​creating the holiday was to call people to unite to solve important global problems In 1995, a social declaration was adopted in Copenhagen, the main objectives of which were pressing universal problems Poverty, hunger, unemployment, disease, women's inequality, violence, humiliation, etc In January 1996, the UN created a resolution on the First Decade for the Eradication of Poverty The participating countries pledged to take all possible participation in international problems This January document was the prerequisite for the creation of the International Day of Human Solidarity, which was announced 10 years later During this time, many goals were achieved for which representatives of countries gathered in the Danish capital The position of women in many countries has risen and strengthened, opportunities have emerged for the safe and legal departure of refugees, living conditions in developing countries have improved, the increase in the number of diseases has decreased due to an increase in the import of medicines and hygiene products to those in need, etc The creation of a holiday on December 20, according to the UN, should draw people's attention to the problems of relationships with each other Humanity should become not separate countries seeking to follow only their own goals and interests, but one big family, always ready to support each other in difficult times This solidarity should become fundamental both for resolving internal conflicts and for environmental problems that threaten humanity with extinction Currently, a huge number of organizations have been created around the world that are ready to help those in need These are free public and private associations, various activist volunteer movements, and environmental communities December 20 is not a day off, however, every year more and more people celebrate this holiday The UN contributes in every possible way to its promotion There are many programs and articles in the media dedicated to this event Mass conferences are held, public organizations organize rallies, calling on people to mutual assistance and kindness Various events, lectures, and seminars are held Solidarity - mutual respect, helping each other, uniting peoples for the common good - is a solid foundation for the future of the planet
