Along with this holiday, from May 25 to May 31, the Week of Solidarity with the Peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories takes place. Both of these holidays were adopted after the decision of the UN General Assembly. For modern residents of Africa, this holiday has become a reminder of what their ancestors had to endure so that they could now live in true freedom and have the right to make independent choices.
