This holiday was first celebrated in 1954 It was then that the UN General Assembly issued a statement in which it advised to organize ceremonial events dedicated to minor citizens They should be aimed at improving mutual understanding between adults and children, improving the well-being of each individual child, regardless of their country of residence It is expected that this holiday will help strengthen cooperation between nations and their gradual integration into the global process The UN proposed holding celebrations on any day that would be convenient for representatives of a particular country But November 20 was chosen by representatives of the world community for a reason The fact is that in 1959, it was on this date that a declaration regulating the rights of the child was signed And exactly 30 years later, the countries signed the corresponding Convention, which further secured them First of all, the date affects charitable and commercial organizations that improve the lives of children around the world Their main task is to focus people's attention on the problems of this age group That is why they hold all kinds of charity concerts, meetings with people, stand on busy streets and hold instructive conversations The problem is especially serious with children who have lost their parents due to AIDS or other serious illnesses They must be visited and asked about their well-being and morale Very often, seminars are held and certificates of gratitude are given to people who have made maximum efforts to improve the lives of minors The authorities of some regions, districts, and cities organize sports competitions, art exhibitions, and festive concerts accompanied by songs and dances Unfortunately, this date is not very popular in Russia yet Typically all major events are held on June 1st Even the media sometimes ignore this date
