From time immemorial, a woman in a family has been the caretaker of the home, raising children and keeping the house in order She plays an important role in society But almost every third representative of the fairer sex, according to the UN, faces various types of violence On this occasion, in 2000, the UN announced the creation of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women The date was determined to be November 25, it was on this day in 1960 that the three Mirabal sisters, activists of the revolutionary movement fighting the Dominican dictator Rafael Trijulo, were brutally murdered The purpose of establishing this event was the need to bring to society the problems of violence against women, as well as to do everything possible to reduce cases of abuse against them The abuse of women is on a global scale Violence occurs in all levels of social status, cultures, nations, even in civilized society The risk of being harmed by physical or moral pressure in women of reproductive age exceeds the possibility of being exposed to cancer, becoming a victim of military operations or accidents But statistics are often underestimated, because the incident of violence itself becomes a tragedy for the woman, humiliation, psychological trauma, and the victim is ashamed to openly report it Violence is any act of coercion, intimidation, physical force, or insults The worst thing is that the aggressor towards a woman is often a person she knows In any segment of the population, relatives can threaten and beat representatives of their clan, and cases of coercion into sexual intercourse are not uncommon Besides, age is no barrier to such torment Both adult women and teenage girls, even little girls, are subject to violence In some countries, girls are married off at too young an age or sent into sex work During war, the female population is at greater risk of being victims of abuse or forced sexual relations than in normal times There are states that adhere to ancient rituals, perform unnecessary surgeries on the genitals of young girls or steal brides The problem of abuse of the weaker sex has its negative impact on society First of all, the costs affect the country's economy, because in the medical care of a woman injured after an act of violence, it is necessary to allocate more funds for treatment, and her childbirth can be much more difficult than for other representatives Also, the victim's performance may decrease after bullying But the most unpleasant thing is human suffering and the feeling of pain brought by violence
